Michelle, Char, Titus, Elaine, & Alyse headed to market. |
After hearing their story, we went into discussing our schedule and plan for these next days that we're here. It's changed slighty since we planned before we came, and has even changed again after our discussion this morning. And that's okay, we're flexible and eager to see what God has in store for us.
We received a tour of AYDC today and it is amazing what they have done here. Words can not do it justice. I hope to be able to load some pictures for you all soon, my cell service has not been strong enough to do so just yet. They're coming though.
Next, we headed out to the "Big C" for supply & grocery shopping. As it turns out, we didn't actually make it to the Big C. We made it to the mall type area that sits below it. There, we all enjoyed food from various vendors in the food court. After some discussion, about what was on our list, it was decided that the Big C was not the best option for us in terms of shopping so we headed to a different store called Tops Market. There, we were able to find most of what we wanted. It was interesting to shop there and see what was available that we're used to and increase our knowledge of other products available. From there, most of our group headed back to AYDC to put away our goods and get some down time in. The rest of us headed to the local farmer's market to get some cilantro, onions, and fruit. Folks, the fruit here is unique and delicious. I love fruit. My hometown is nicknamed "the world's fruit basket." and we do have a ton of fruit there, and it is shipped all over the world, but today, I saw and tasted some of the best fruit. When we return home, I will be looking to see if any of it is available locally.
Tonight, we had dinner with the kids and interacted with them. They are sweet and fun and excited to have us here. We adore them already and I'm quite certain the feelings are mutual.
We kick off our first "English Camp" in a government school early tomorrow! We had hoped our first one would have been here at AYDC to give us a little time to work out the kinks. However, like I said before, schedules change and flexibiliy is key! We're excited to see how God moves tomorrow and looking forward to loving on some kids.
Yay for flexibility!
